Atotech Inaugurated a New Corrosion Protection Competence Center in Trebur-Geinsheim, Germany
On September 24-25, Atotech celebrated the Grand Opening of the new Corrosion Protection Competence Center in Trebur-Geinsheim, Germany. More than 200 guests – amongst them the mayor of Trebur Mr. Jürgen Arnold, Atotech customers and representatives of the trade press – were welcomed by Reinhard Schneider, President of Atotech, Pablo Nieto Aliseda, Vice President General Metal Finishing and Gertjan van der Wal, Vice President Europe & Americas. The opening event was divided into two main parts: a festive ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a guided tour of the facilities and a technical session, presenting Atotech's core values and latest corrosion protection processes with focus on green technologies.
Covering an area of 3,700 m² – this is the equivalent to half the size of a football field – the new center houses Atotech's R&D competence of corrosion resistant coatings and zinc flake technology. Trebur is only 35 kilometers away from the Rhine-Main metropolis Frankfurt City and has already been the center of all of Atotech's R&D and product development activities for zinc flake coatings. In 2008, a TechCenter for corrosion protection has been opened, offering all kind of product and reliability testing, qualifications runs and customer sampling for both our corrosion resistant coatings and zinc flake technology.
The expansion of the facilities in Trebur and the relocation of the entire Corrosion Resistant Coatings Business Technology Team, including R&D, Business and Product Management, create a center of excellence for corrosion protection, which is unique in Europe and even worldwide.
Being one of the very few leading suppliers offering both electroplating processes and zinc flake coating for corrosion protective finishes, Atotech can now maximize synergies between the two Business Technology Teams and continue to develop voice-of-the-customer-based innovations and solutions.
With annual sales of €965 million, Atotech is one of the world's leading manufacturers of processes and equipment for the printed circuit board, IC-substrate and semiconductor industries (Electronics) as well as the decorative and functional surface finishing industries (General Metal Finishing). Committed to sustainability, Atotech develops technologies that minimize waste and reduce environmental impact. Atotech, a division of the Total Group, is headquartered in Berlin, Germany and employs about 4,000 people in over 40 countries. About a quarter of all staff works in one of the four locations in Germany: Berlin, Feucht, Neuruppin and Trebur.
