Atotech has not only established its Uniplate Technology as the global standard for horizontal printed circuit board plating, but also for the manufacturing of inductive PayPhone cards.

The established and matured manufacturing processes have undergone major changes over the last couple of years. The substrate base changed from ABS to PET which required a catalytic primer instead of wet chemical based processes as it was the case with ABS. The CMD Team developed a proprietary catalytic primer, which is produced locally in Brazil to avoid costly import charges. In line with lead-free initiatives efforts are currently in progress to replace the installed lead containing plating baths by pure tin baths, thereby avoiding any performance losses of the final telephone card product.
