GM Approvals for Atotech Processes
2012, December – Atotech’s processes have been approved to the General Motors specifications GMW4205 for black zinc nickel coatings and GMW3044 for zinc coatings.
The acid zinc nickel process Zinni 210 combined with passivate Unifix® NI 3-34 L and top coat Techdip Black WL2 meet the performance requirements of the GM specification. GMW4205 requires no white corrosion at 48 h and no red corrosion at 480 h in salt spray testing.
Atotech’s acid zinc process Zylite® 11-50 in combination with the EcoTri® LT passivate, Corrosil® Plus 501 (BG) and Rogard Lube 200 sealer achieves the stringent requirements of GMW3044 – 120 NSS hours to white corrosion, 360 NSS hours (depending on part specification) to red corrosion.

Atotech Inaugurated a New Corrosion Protection Competence Center in Trebur-Geinsheim, Germany
2012, October – On September 24-25, Atotech celebrated the Grand Opening of the new Corrosion Protection Competence Center in Trebur-Geinsheim, Germany. More than 200 guests – amongst them the mayor of Trebur Mr. Jürgen Arnold, Atotech customers and representatives of the trade press – were welcomed by Reinhard Schneider, President of Atotech, Pablo Nieto Aliseda, Vice President General Metal Finishing and Gertjan van der Wal, Vice President Europe & Americas.
The opening event was divided into two main parts: a festive ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a guided tour of the facilities and a technical session, presenting Atotech’s core values and latest corrosion protection processes with focus on green technologies. Covering an area of 3,700 m2 – the equivalent to half the size of a football field – the new center houses Atotech’s R&D competence of corrosion resistant coatings and zinc flake technology.
