Corrosion Resistant Coatings – Sealer Technology
The Ultimate Step to Perfect Corrosion Resistance
Atotech Sealers – such as the renowned Corrosil® range – have been developed to enhance decorative and corrosion protection properties of the coatings, but also to provide a required coefficient of friction if applied on fasteners. Organic as well as inorganic sealers are available, with appearances ranging from clear to black.
- Clear Organic Sealers
Sealers containing organic components are generally preferred, when good film formation and glossysurfaces are required. Due to the cross-linking reaction of the organic polymers excellent corrosion protection is achieved. To cover a wide range of friction demands, lubricated versions are also available.
- Clear Inorganic Sealers
Purely inorganic sealers are especially important when the sealer coating is in contact to fluids. Inorganic sealers are compatible to brake fluid, motor oil, hydraulic oil, fuel, diesel fuel, wheel cleaner and engine coolant. Another advantage is that sealer residue, left on the plating equipment during plating (e.g. rack hooks) can easily be stripped in the usual pretreatment sequence.
- Clear Reactive Inorganic Sealers
The patent-protected inorganic reactive Sealer 300 W family provides highest corrosion protection, even after assembling / handling. During drying at temperatures above 60 °C, the sealer reacts with the underlaying passivate to form a unique crack-free bond. The result is a continuously high long-term corrosion protection without aging.
Excellent corrosion protection performance is not only achieved in neutral salt spray test, but also in cyclic corrosion test (e.g. GMW 14872) as well as in outdoor exposure test, where it outperforms conventional sealer technologies.
- Black Sealers
In order to achieve the deepest black finish, sealers were developed to yield a perfect black appearance even on barrel plated parts, such as screws and clamps. To cover a wide range of friction demands, lubricated versions are also available.
