Acid Copper – The Premier Decorative Copper Plating Process
Superb Leveling and Superior Ductility
Acid copper usually produces the layer which delivers the highly decorative aspect of a plated part. With the dye-based Cupracid® and the dye-free CuFlex® range, Atotech markets specialized acid copper processes for a large variety of applications. Cupracid® processes are used in the plating of automotive, sanitary, cosmetics, furniture and other kinds of industry components. The CuFlex® process range provides dye-free processes preventing over-leveling and the formation of pits and pores.
For plating on plastics, Atotech offers highly ductile acid copper processes. Cupracid® 5000 was developed especially for the plating of large plastic parts such as automotive grills, bumpers and mirror housings. When ultimate leveling is required, eg in aluminum wheel processing, Cupracid® Ultra meets those requirements and reduces the need for polishing and buffing prior to nickel plating.

Acid Copper Tools
Atotech offers specially developed tools to further increase the effectiveness and performance of the Cupracid® process. Cupracid® tools such as leveler additives, wetting agents or correction solutions improve the process; they, for example, extend brightness, increase leveling or prevent air voids and formation of pores.
