Cookie policy

This Cookie policy applies to the website(s) and mobile applications (together, the “Sites”) provided by Atotech (“Atotech”, “we”, “us”).The Sites include www.atotech.com and additional websites or mobile applications produced and managed by Atotech.

This Cookie policy explains how and why cookies, web beacons, pixels and other similar technologies (collectively “Cookies”) may be stored on and accessed from your device when you use or visit any of the Sites.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to alter and update this Cookie policy at any time and from time to time. We therefore recommend that you review the current version of the Cookie policy each time that you visit any of the Sites.

This Cookie policy should be read together with our Privacy policy regarding your rights as a data subject, our address and contact methods and further relevant information.

I. Cookies

Cookies are small pieces of data stored in text files that are stored on your computer or other device when websites are loaded in a browser. They are widely used to “remember” you and your preferences, either for a single visit (through a “session cookie”) or for multiple repeat visits (using a “persistent cookie”). They ensure a consistent and efficient experience for visitors, and perform essential functions such as allowing users to register and remain logged in. Cookies may be set by the site that you are visiting (known as “first party cookies”), or by third parties, such as those who serve content or provide advertising or analytics services on the website (“third party cookies”).

II. Data

The following data, among others, may be collected:

  • Information about the browser used (type/version) and the operating system of the user;
  • the user’s Internet service provider;
  • the IP address of the user;
  • websites from which the user’s system accesses our Sites;
  • websites which are accessed by the user’s system via our Sites;
  • use of Site functions, search terms entered and the frequency of page views; and
  • date and time of access.

III. Recipients of data

We use Google LLC as processors when processing personal data in connection with the provision of websites. Google LLC is located in the USA. In this respect, we ensure that the transmission of personal data complies with the special provisions for data transfers outside of the European Economic Area that are set out in chapter 5 of the GDPR. To obtain a list of the measures adopted by us for this purpose, please use the contact information provided in our Privacy policy.

IV. Categories of cookies

Depending on their function and intended purpose, cookies can generally be assigned to [one of] the following categories:  strictly necessary cookies, performance cookies, functional cookies and targeting cookies.

a. Strictly necessary cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are required to navigate our websites and operate basic website functions. Examples of strictly necessary cookies are login cookies, shopping cart cookies, cookies to remember your cookie settings and cookies for internet safety. Without these cookies, certain basic functionalities cannot be offered. Strictly necessary cookies are always active and will be stored on your computer or other device without your prior consent.

To the extent that information processed in connection with strictly necessary cookies should qualify as personal data, the legal ground for that processing is Atotech’s legitimate interest to operate the relevant Site (see Art. 6 (1) lit. (f) GDPR).

b. Functional cookies

Functional cookies enable a website to store information and options you have already previously entered (e.g. username, language settings, layout settings, contact preferences or your location) in order to offer you improved personalized functions. They are also used to enable requested functions, such as playing videos.

To the extent that information processed in connection with functional cookies should qualify as personal data, the legal ground for that processing is that it has been done with your prior consent (see Art. 6 (1) lit. (a) GDPR).

c. Performance cookies

Performance cookies – also known as analytics cookies – collect information on your usage of the Sites. They enable us to identify information such as your internet browser, operating system, visited websites, duration and number of website visits, previously visited website, most commonly visited websites and errors you have experienced. The information collected is aggregated and anonymous. It does not allow a personal identification. It only serves the purpose of evaluating and enhancing the user experience of the Sites.

To the extent that information processed in connection with performance cookies should qualify as personal data, the legal ground for that processing is that it has been done with your prior consent (see Art. 6 (1) lit. (a) GDPR), which was obtained through our cookie banner.

d. Targeting cookies

Targeting cookies – also known as cookies for marketing purposes – are used to offer more relevant and interest-specific content to you, to limit the display frequency of advertisements and to measure the efficiency of advertising campaigns. They register if you have visited a promoted website or not, and which content you used. Such information may be shared with third parties, e.g. advertisement companies.

The legal basis for the processing of personal data in connection with targeting cookies (if any) is that it has been done with your consent (see Art. 6 (1) lit. (a) GDPR).
