Nichem® HP 1170
Reliable and robust process for components exposed to challenging operating conditions
Nichem® HP 1170, our new high-phosphorus electroless nickel process, fulfills all current requirements and specifications. The process provides superior corrosion resistance in acidic environments, especially against nitrates, chlorides, and sulfides. Its deposit incorporates a phosphorus content exceeding 10 %. Nichem® HP 1170 plated deposits exhibit a bright appearance and excellent wear resistance with as-plated-hardness up to 620 HV0.1 increasing to 930 – 1080 HV0.1 after heat treatment.
Nichem® HP 1170 is a more sustainable process: it is lead- and cadmium free and meets the highest sustainability standards, including ELV, RoHS, and WEEE.
It shows remarkable bath stability throughout the bath life and is designed to achieve self-regulating pH. It has a longer bath life (up to 6.5 MTO) compared to existing processes by maintaining a compressively stressed deposit for longlasting operating periods. The process has a wide working window, is tolerant to low and high bath-loading scenarios and offers a fast plating rate.
What inspires us
Why we developed Nichem® HP 1170
Your challenge
The modern requirements of an electroless nickel plant are very stringent and require that the processes must be robust and capable of operating with a wide operating window. The demand for improved deposit properties is increasing as newer applications requiring electroless nickel are emerging. Furthermore, seeking solutions to improve the corrosion protection of parts in highly corrosive environments is rising.
All these requirements put pressure on suppliers to develop processes not just to meet the existing demands but to exceed them in every aspect. Keeping this in mind, Atotech has taken the challenge to develop our Nichem® HP 1170.
Our solution
Nichem® HP 1170 was developed to provide the highest level of corrosion protection in highly acidic environments. In benchmark studies against leading high phosphorus processes currently on the market, the process clearly demonstrates superior resistance to corrosion. It is ideally suited for applications requiring excellent corrosion resistance, such as applications in the oil and gas industry.
The process offers good wear resistance and non-magnetic properties, which make it suitable for the automotive, heavy machinery, and electronic industries. Nichem® HP 1170 is a robust process that meets the requirements of a wide range of applications and is particularly suited to the job shop environment.
