Our human rights management
We are committed to human rights. This is emphasized by our management and the day-to-day interactions we have with each other, as well as with those with whom we conduct our business. Management responsibility here for the MKS’ Materials Solutions Division is shared between the Vice President of Human Resources, who has internal oversight over employee and contingent worker human rights matters, and our Vice President of Operations together with the Head of Integrity and Compliance, who oversee the application of our human rights policy in relationship to third party suppliers.
Human rights principles
We have committed to the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) framework for promoting social justice and internationally recognized human and labor rights, as well as the OECD guidelines for multinational enterprises.
Our diversity and inclusion work
At MKS, we value individual differences and build an environment of trust within our workforce. We are a truly international and diverse team. In our Materials Solutions Division, which delivers our Atotech products, 62 different nationalities are represented in our global workforce and 21 different nationalities are represented in upper management positions. When it comes to gender diversity, 25% of the workforce is female.
Goals
Our goal is to proactively increase the share of female executives and the share of females in the total workforce related to the Atotech brand on an annual basis. We will achieve our goals through proactive recruitment and attractive career development opportunities.
Our corporate citizenship
We encourage community volunteerism and engagement at the local level, across the world.
In doing so, we work with various partners worldwide serving multiple needs in society. In 2021, we participated in numerous Corporate Social Responsibility-related events around the globe. Among these were scholarship programs in China, donations to environmental organizations that provide drinking water to people in developing nations or engage in the renaturation of stressed landscapes, charity activities such as supporting families in need, and the initiation of a support and awareness campaign to combat Covid-19 in communities close to our Indian sites.

Our safety objective
We are dedicated to the safety of those who manufacture our Atotech products and those who use them, and to reducing the impact our products have on the environment. We have formal Health and Safety polices in place for both employees and subcontractors, which are reviewed on a regular basis. Our commitment to quality includes not only the highest product standards, but also the health and safety of those we work, interact, and do business with. Health and safety are priorities that we maintain and cultivate every day. Our clear target is zero accidents. Our comprehensive and globally applied safety measures consequently enforce this target as we work on our Atotech products every day.
“Safety First is a core value which we maintain and cultivate every day. Therefore, we have one clear target: ZERO accidents.”

Our approach
We conduct regular safety meetings and safety trainings, which are mandatory for all staff in all geographic regions in which we operate our Atotech product. We also have a systematic ‘return on experience’ process in place, which ensures that local experience is shared and implemented globally within our division. Furthermore, consolidated global monitoring of incidents is reported monthly to the divisional leadership team, as well as to the broader global management team.
Our sites
Our Atotech production sites and TechCenters are designed to high specifications in order to ensure the safety of our employees, the communities we work in, and to protect the environment. All our Atotech manufacturing sites and TechCenters are externally certified within a global Matrix Certification to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard and have also attained the ISO 14001 standard for integrating Environmental Management Practices and the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System certification.
Our achievement:
0.51 incidents per 200.000 working hours
for our employees and contractors working on Atotech products in 2023.
