Our human rights management
We are committed to human rights. This is emphasized by our management and the day-to-day interactions we have with each other, as well as with those with whom we conduct our business. The responsibility is shared between the Vice President of Human Resources, who has internal oversight over employee and contingent worker human rights matters, and our Chief Operating Officer together with the Vice President & Group General Counsel, who oversee the application of our human rights policy in relationship to third party suppliers.
Human rights principles
We have committed to the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) framework for promoting social justice and internationally recognized human and labor rights, as well as the OECD guidelines for multinational enterprises.
Our diversity and inclusion work
At Atotech, we value individual differences and build an environment of trust within our workforce. We are a truly international and diverse team, with 56 different nationalities represented in our global workforce and 23 different nationalities represented in upper management positions. When it comes to gender diversity, 25% of our total workforce and 11% of our upper management is female.
Goals
Our goal is to proactively increase the share of female executives and the share of females in the total workforce on an annual basis. We will achieve our goals through proactive recruitment and attractive career development opportunities.
“At Atotech, we promote and celebrate a culture of diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity. We practice our values everyday, as a part of every interaction with each other and with those whom we do business with.”
Daniel Wan, Vice President of Human Resources at Atotech Group

Our corporate citizenship
Atotech encourages community volunteerism and engagement at the local level, across the world. In 2019, we participated in numerous Corporate Social Responsibility related events around the globe. In doing so, we work with various partners worldwide serving multiple needs in society. Among these are scholarship programs, donations to environmental organizations, charity activities such as supporting families in need, and the donation of hand sanitizers to hospitals in the context of COVID-19. In the coming years, we plan to formalize a community engagement program and expand our activities to serve a wider portion of the communities in which we operate.

Our safety objective
Atotech is dedicated to the safety of those who manufacture our products and those who use them, and to reducing the impact our products have on the environment. We have formal Health and Safety polices in place for both employees and subcontractors, which are reviewed on a regular basis. Our commitment to quality includes not only the highest product standards, but also the health and safety of those we work, interact, and do business with. Health and safety are priorities that we maintain and cultivate every day. Our clear target is zero accidents. Our comprehensive and globally applied safety measures consequently enforce this target every day.
“Safety First is a core value which we maintain and cultivate every day. Therefore, we have one clear target: ZERO accidents.”

Our approach
Atotech conducts regular safety meetings and safety trainings, which are mandatory for all staff in all geographic regions in which we operate. We also have a systematic ‘return on experience’ process in place, which ensures that local experience is shared and implemented globally within our company. Furthermore, consolidated global monitoring of incidents is reported monthly to the senior management team, as well as to the broader global management team.
Our sites
Our production sites and TechCenters are designed to high specifications in order to ensure the safety of our employees, the communities we work in, and to protect the environment. All our manufacturing sites and TechCenters are externally certified within a global Matrix Certification to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard and have also attained the ISO 14001 standard for integrating Environmental Management Practices and the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System certification.
Our achievement:
0.58 incidents per 1 million working hours
for our employees and contractors in 2019. We reduced our total recordable incident rate by 50% compared to 1.31 in 2018.
