Zinni® 220

Excellent corrosion protection with boric-acid and ammonia-free acid zinc nickel electrolyte

Zinni® 220 is the next generation of boric acid and ammonia-free acid zinc nickel electrolytes. It is a highly innovative upgrade of its well-known and established predecessor Zinni® 210.

Zinni® 220 combines the outstanding corrosion protection properties of Zinni® 210 with improved throwing power resulting in higher thickness in low current density areas.

Zinni® 220 is thus not only suitable for rack plating but also for barrel production, especially for fasteners. A homogenous nickel incorporation of 12 – 15% is achieved within a wide current density range. Depending on the requirements, Zinni® 220 allows customers to choose between bright, semi-bright or matte coatings.

The new environmentally sound process operates with liquid products only. This eliminates the risk of toxic dusts and makes Zinni® 220 easy to handle. Zinni® 220 was developed especially for the direct plating of cast iron in rack applications and is approved by the brake caliper industry.

What inspires us

Why we developed Zinni® 220

Your challenge

Functional surfaces have to be reliable and offer high corrosion resistance.

The challenges lie in the high current efficiency of acid zinc nickel, which can cause issues related to even coating thicknesses and burning. Over time, the increased organic content of the bath lowers the layer quality.

Additionally, fueled by increased environmental regulations, demand for sustainable surface solutions continues to grow.

Our solution

Zinni® 220 offers improved throwing power resulting in homogeneous nickel incorporation within a wide current density range.

We also decreased the organic content in the electrolyte which provides high stability and therefore higher layer quality over a long period of time.

Zinni® 220 is boric acid-free and operates with liquid products only. This eliminates the risk of toxic dusts and makes it easy to handle.
